I recently came across a paper sketch that was sent to the contractor, outlining the design for the vanity mirror in the bathroom of the Twinpalms MontAzure project. It brought back memories of the journey from initial concept to final realization, and I’d like to share the story behind this mirror and how it all came together.

While working on the bathroom vanity mirrors for Twinpalms MontAzure, we had a few key ideas we wanted to bring to life. Here’s how it all came together:
The mirror was designed to stretch up to the ceiling and cover the widest possible area of the wall. This approach not only made the room feel more spacious but also enhanced the natural light entering the space. The result? A bright, airy atmosphere that elevates the apartment’s overall ambiance.
Lighting was a key focus. We incorporated built-in lighting bright enough for makeup application, particularly for units without natural light. Ceiling downlights alone wouldn’t work because they create shadows on the face. The mirror’s lighting had to provide even, direct illumination to ensure practicality without compromising style.
To avoid glare, we designed the lighting to be soft and indirect. This not only made the light comfortable to the eyes but also gave the skin a smooth, flattering appearance—perfect for daily grooming or special occasions.
To keep things functional, we added concealed side panels to the mirror. These allow easy access for maintenance and light replacement without disrupting the clean, minimalist design. From the front, you’d never notice these hidden features.
A more experimental detail was the transition between the reflective mirror surface and the frosted glass. We aimed for a seamless, continuous surface with no visible joins or cuts. This subtle touch adds an extra layer of sophistication to the design.
The design concept was translated into detailed construction drawings. These had to capture the essence of the concept while ensuring feasibility for implementation.
A full-scale mockup was created by the contractor for review at the factory. The mirror for this project measured an impressive height of 1.60 meters, complementing the 2.70-meter ceiling. We inspected the installation of the lighting, the light output, and the functionality of the side panels for future maintenance. The side-opening panels were designed to be nearly invisible from the front, aligning with a minimalist aesthetic.
3. On-Site Installation
For other room types, such as corner units with side windows, the mirror design was adapted to fit other rooms’layout. For example, a “His and Her” setup was created, with two mirrors flanking the window in the middle. Despite these layout adjustments, the core design details—such as concealed lighting and seamless mirror surfaces—remained consistent across all units.
This vanity mirror design was created to reflect the project’s focus on clean, minimal aesthetics while delivering the functionality and elegance of luxury living. Its seamless integration into the bathroom space demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a simple mirror into a statement piece.

ในการออกแบบกระจกแต่งหน้าในห้องน้ำของ Twinplams Montazure มีหลักการที่สำคัญ และอยากทำให้สำเร็จ คือ
1. เราต้องการออกแบบกระจกให้สูงถึงเพดานและครอบคลุมพื้นที่กว้างที่สุดของผนัง วิธีนี้ช่วยให้ห้องดูกว้างขึ้นจากการสะท้อน และยังช่วยกระจายแสงธรรมชาติที่เข้ามาในห้อง ทำให้บรรยากาศดูสว่างและโปร่งโล่งมากยิ่งขึ้น
2. โจทย์ต่อไปคือ สามารถมีแสงสว่างในตัวเพื่อให้สามารถแต่งหน้าสำหรับคุณผู้หญิงได้จริง เพราะเราจะใช้ดีเทลดีไซน์กระจกแบบนี้ในทุกห้อง เป็นมาตรฐาน ซึ่งบางห้องจะไม่มีแสงธรรมชาติเข้ามา ดังนั้นแสงจากตัวกระจกเองจึงต้องสว่างและมีคุณภาพที่ดี ไฟดาวน์ไลท์ที่ส่องลงตรงเคาน์เตอร์อย่างเดียวไม่เพียงพอและจะทำให้เกิดเงาบนใบหน้า จึงต้องมีแสงที่ออกมาโดนระนาบของหน้าตรงๆ
3. แสงจากกระจก ต้องไม่แยงตา เข้าตาโดยตรง ควรเป็น indirect light เพื่อให้ผิวหน้าดูนุ่มนวล
4. เมื่อเราซ่อนไฟในกระจก เพื่อความสะดวกในการใช้งานระยะยาว เราเพิ่มแผงด้านข้างที่ซ่อนอยู่ในกระจก ซึ่งสามารถเปิดเพื่อบำรุงรักษาหรือเปลี่ยนไฟได้โดยไม่ทำลายความสวยงามของดีไซน์ โดยเมื่อมองจากด้านหน้าแทบจะมองไม่เห็นเลยว่าแผงนั้นอยู่ตรงไหน
5. ข้อสุดท้ายเป็นรายละเอียดที่ท้าทายอีกอย่างหนึ่งคือ คือผิวกระจกเงาและกระจกฝ้า เนียนต่อกันเป็นผืนเดียว โดยไม่มีรอยต่อให้เห็น ไม่เอากระจกเงามาตัดต่อกับกระจกฝ้า (อาจจะงงเล็กน้อย แต่ดูภาพแล้วจะเข้าใจ) ซึ่งไม่ใช่สิ่งที่ต้องทำในทุกการออกแบบกระจก แต่แค่อยากลองทำ
ได้โจทย์ครบแล้วมาลุยกันเลย
จากแนวคิดสู่แบบก่อสร้าง ออกแบบเขียนแบบให้ได้ตามคอนเซป ออกมาเป็นแบบก่อสร้างที่สวยงาม
การตรวจ Mockup ให้ผู้รับเหมาทำแบบตัวอย่างเท่าขนาดจริงขึ้นมา เราไปตรวจดูและอนุมัติที่โรงงานก่อน ขนาดกระจกตามแบบนี้คือสูง 1.60 เมตร ลยทีเดียว เพราะฝ้าสูง 2.70 เมตร สูงพอๆกับเราเลยค่ะ เราเช็คดูการติดตั้งไฟ ดูปริมาณแสงที่ออกมา รวมทั้งการเปิดแผ่นด้านข้างเพื่อให้เปลี่ยนไฟได้ในอนาคต เราออกแบบให้เปิดด้านข้างเพื่อให้ดูเรียบร้อยจากด้านหน้า แทบไม่เห็นว่าเปิดได้ตรงไหน นี่แหละการออกแบบให้ได้ความมินิมอล
การติดตั้งหน้างาน ส่วนห้องแบบอื่นๆ ก็มีการปรับดีไซน์ ให้เข้ากับแบบห้องน้ำนั้นๆ อย่างเช่นห้องมุมที่มีหน้าต่างด้านข้างของผนัง กระจกที่เดิมมีขนาดกว้างเต็มผนังก็แบ่งเป็นสองชุดสไตล์ His and Her และมีหน้าต่างอยู่ตรงกลาง แต่ดีเทลการซ่อนไฟและกระจกยังคงไว้เป็นแบบเดียวกัน
กระจกแต่งหน้าชิ้นนี้ถูกออกแบบให้สะท้อนถึงคอนเซปต์ของโครงการ ที่เน้นความมินิมอลและเรียบง่าย แต่ยังตอบโจทย์การใช้งานที่สะดวกสบายและเต็มไปด้วยความหรูหรา การผสมผสานนี้แสดงให้เห็นว่า การออกแบบที่ใส่ใจในรายละเอียดสามารถเปลี่ยนกระจกธรรมดาให้กลายเป็นชิ้นงานที่โดดเด่นได้
